Stop Waiting to Be Happy: Why Later Doesn’t Exist

If you knew, without a doubt, that you were going to get everything you wanted—your dream body, your ideal relationship, your successful business—how would you be acting right now?


Most people go through life believing that happiness is waiting for them at the next milestone. They think, “Once I hit this goal, then I’ll be happy.” But what happens when you get there? You instantly set a new goal. You move the finish line before you’ve even had a chance to celebrate.


So you spend your entire life chasing happiness instead of allowing yourself to experience it right now.


It’s time to break this cycle. You don’t need to wait for something external to change in order to be happy. You can feel good right now, in this moment. Because later? Later doesn’t exist.

why you’re never actually going to “arrive” at happiness


Think about it—how many times have you told yourself:

• “I’ll be happy when I get my dream body.”

• “I’ll feel successful when my business takes off.”

• “I’ll finally relax when I have more money.”


But when you reach that goal, it doesn’t feel like enough. You instantly move on to the next thing. It’s a never-ending cycle of chasing, achieving, and feeling unfulfilled.


I’ve experienced this firsthand in many different ways... most recently with my YouTube journey.


At first, I told myself I’d be happy when I got 1,000 subscribers and got monetized. Then I hit 1,000, and suddenly it wasn’t enough. So I said, “When I reach 10,000 subscribers, then I’ll feel accomplished.” Then I got there, and I still wasn’t satisfied. Now, I have over 20,000 subscribers, and I could easily fall into the trap of thinking, “Okay, but I’m not at 100,000 yet.”


See how this cycle never ends? No matter where you are, there’s always another level to reach.


If you don’t learn to feel happy now, you never will.


how to stop waiting for happiness and feel good right now


The secret to happiness isn’t reaching your goals—it’s being present and satisfied in the process.


When you stop obsessing over the future and start fully experiencing the present moment, you realize that happiness isn’t something you “achieve.” It’s something you choose.


Here’s how you can start shifting your mindset today:


1. stop rushing through life


Are you constantly hustling just to check things off your list? Do you view everything as a means to an end instead of appreciating the moment?


Instead of thinking, “Let me just get this over with so I can move to the next step,” ask yourself: “How can I enjoy what I’m doing right now?”


If you’re building a business, savor the creative process instead of just focusing on making money. If you’re working on your fitness, enjoy the feeling of movement instead of fixating on the number on the scale.


Because guess what? The present moment is all you ever have.


2. stop waiting for external things to “fix” you


A lot of people think, “Once I have a relationship, I’ll finally feel loved.” But when they get into a relationship, they still feel empty inside. Why?


Because love doesn’t come from someone else—it comes from within you.

• If you don’t feel loved now, you won’t feel loved in a relationship.

• If you don’t feel worthy now, no amount of success will make you feel worthy.

• If you don’t feel happy now, no amount of money will make you happy.


You have to generate these feelings within yourself first.


3. practice presence and gratitude


Happiness is about being fully present in your life, right now.

• Take a deep breath.

• Look around you.

• Find something to appreciate in this moment.


Even if things aren’t perfect, there’s always something to be grateful for. The more you focus on what’s good in your life, the more joy you create.


4. reframe challenges as part of the process


Every time you face an obstacle, do you think, “Why is this happening to me?” Or do you recognize that this challenge is actually moving you closer to what you want?


When I was launching my affirmation cards on Amazon, every step of the process felt frustrating. Verifications, listings, technical issues—it felt endless. I kept thinking, “Why can’t this just be done already?”


Then I realized: This isn’t something blocking me from my goal—this is the path to my goal.


Instead of seeing obstacles as roadblocks, start viewing them as necessary steps toward success.


5. remind yourself that everything you want is already on its way


If you knew that your success was guaranteed… if you knew that your goals were going to happen… how would you feel?


Relaxed. Confident. At peace.


You wouldn’t be stressed. You wouldn’t be doubting yourself. You’d be trusting the process.


So feel that way now. Because the only thing standing between you and happiness is your belief that you need something else in order to feel good.

your happiness isn’t in the future—it’s right here, right now.


If you’re constantly delaying happiness, you’ll spend your whole life waiting to feel good instead of actually enjoying your life.


Happiness isn’t something you reach—it’s something you allow.


So stop waiting. Feel happy now.
